Sporting Experience

Horse riding, Year 5 – Bournevale Stables

Bournevale Stables have the added bonus of an indoor arena where pupils learn to ride.  The mirrors around the arena enabled them to check their posture and improve their technique on how to ride correctly.  Heels down and sitting up straight as well as steering on a moving horse is not as easy as you think but our Year 5 have done an amazing job.  A big thank you to Bournevale Stables staff who are friendly, patient, understanding and make lessons fun and inclusive. Instructors at the stables are fully qualified BHS (British Horse Society) instructors.

The riding school gave a Rosette Award to Kyle Crutchley for the following Sports Values, Determination and Self Belief.

Year 4 Aerial Heights Experience 2017

Thank you to all the staff at the Challenge Academy Active Outdoor Learning Centre, Baggeridge Park.  This was an amazing day our Year 4 will remember.  The programme was fun, active and encouraged confidence and teamwork throughout the day.

A big thank you to Boulder Central Indoor Climbing Centre, Wednesbury, for an amazing day. Starting with teamwork activities to prepare them for their climbing experience they then progressed onto climbing using their agility, strength, teamwork, balance and co-ordination skills.

Sports Experiences June/July 2016

Horse riding year 5

Learning to trot, steer and keeping your balance at the same time is not easy as year 5 found out. Horse riding is a skill and involves agility, balance and co-ordination.

A big thank you to Bournevale Stables for a wonderful experience in providing children with knowledge on how to care for, respect, be responsible, patient and how their calming approach is important around these wonderful animals. This has been a therapeutic experience for all who attended.

Well done year 5, you were all brilliant.

Aerial heights year 4

Well done to all year 4 who completed the aerial heights course at Baggeridge Park.

Year 4 gained essential teamwork and communication skills and thoroughly enjoyed this exciting experience.

Aerial heights not only involves agility, balance, co-ordination and endurance but also courage.

Multi-skills Sports Competition

One of the first of many, the multi-skills competition between Kings Rise, Croft Academy and Woods Bank was an exciting experience for pupils and staff alike.

Well done to all who participated (24 pupils in total) and to Croft Academy for coming first. The winners received a trophy and 1st place medals. The multi-skills competition will take place each year and the winning school will keep the trophy until the next school wins.

All participants received a sports bracelet and a certificate.

Indoor climbing/bouldering year 3

Teamwork and communication skills are essential to climbing as year 3 found out on this brilliant climbing course at the Indoor Bouldering Centre, Wednesbury.

Starting with teamwork activities to prepare them for their climbing experience they then progressed onto climbing using their agility, teamwork, balance and co-ordination skills. Well done to all of year 3 who were amazing.

Olympic Themed Sports Day KS1/2 July 2016

During an assembly each class were given a country to support for Sports Day. They then had to make banners and flags of the country they were supporting.

Sports Day started with an opening ceremony where classes paraded in front of parents with banners, flags and music.

The Olympic torch was passed around the field (supported by music - Chariots of Fire) by one child from each class to begin the games.

Children competed in races and a parent race at the end went down a treat.

Well done to all of KS1/2 and all the parents that attended in making this day a memorable one.
