Design and Technology
D&T Vision Statement
Our Design and Technology curriculum inspires children to use their creativity and imagination to develop knowledge and skills in construction, mechanisms, textiles, and cooking and nutrition. Throughout each year group, children are taught how to use a range of materials and equipment. Our curriculum is geared towards enabling children to draw on knowledge from a range of subject areas, explore, plan and evaluate their own ideas in engaging ways. We encourage children to be confident in taking risks; identifying problems and providing solutions. We believe that the ability to do these things are important, transferable skills that will support them beyond the subject matter and into all of the diverse aspects of life, relationships and study. We therefore promote trial and error; learning from mistakes and focusing less on the outcome and more on what can be learned from the process.
The golden thread throughout our whole curriculum is the intent to improve health, raise aspirations and promote diversity.
