Safeguarding at The Elliot Foundation

Protecting our children is one of our main priorities. Our Academy Trust provide information on how we safeguard and the support that is available. To find out more and access the information, please click on the logo below.

What is safeguarding?

It might be difficult to accept, but every child can be hurt, put at risk of harm or abused, regardless of their age, gender, religion or ethnicity.

Safeguarding legislation and government guidance says that safeguarding means:

  • protecting children from maltreatment
  • preventing impairment of children’s health or development
  • ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care.
  • taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcomes

The above information has been taken from Safe Network website, click here to find out more.

What to do if you have a safeguarding concern about a child?

If it is regarding a pupil that attends Woods Bank and it is within school hours please feel free to telephone the school and speak to a Designated Senior Lead for Child Protection (DSL).

DSL's at Woods Bank: Nicola Berkeley, Julie Elwell, Laura Bayliss, Jenni Jealous, Michelle Lucas, Emma Haldron & Donna Perry.

If the concern is about a child that does not attend Woods Bank or it is outside of school hours then please contact Walsall Children's Safeguarding Board.  Their website gives clear procedures on this.  Click here to access this website.

Early Help

Our vision is to make Walsall an "early help" place by helping families at the earliest point, improving children's and young people's life chances and reducing demand for specialist / crisis services. Click here for more information about Early Help.  Julie Elwell is Early Help trained and acts as the 'lead professional' for some families in school.
