The TEFAT Green Curriculum is arranged around four interlinking sustainability themes and each academy is committed to reflect one theme in their own setting.  These are Green Systems, Green Regeneration and Diversity, Green Communities and Green Citizens.

This is a way of teaching and learning that puts the environment and sustainability at the heart of the curriculum.

Woods Bank Academy’s Commitment in 2024-25 is to Green Systems and Green Citizens.

This year we will:

1. Use our Forest Schools area and outdoor areas for outdoor learning opportunities in science, art and geography.

2. Plant more trees in the Early Years and Forest School area to add diversity to our school grounds and encourage wildlife.

3. Create an Eco-council responsible for running whole school projects and improving the school’s sustainability.

4. Monitor the amount of food waste created during lunch times and consider ways to reduce this.

5. Monitor the amount of paper waste in school and reduce this by introducing a ‘reduce/reuse and recycle’ ethos.

6. Monitor the amount of plastic waste by taking part in The Big Plastic Count.
