Hello, and welcome to Nursery. I am so excited to meet you all! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas break, and had the chance to do some exciting activities.
We have some fantastic things prepared for the spring term, including learning about the world around us in Forest School. We will be exploring more nursery rhymes and will be looking out for signs of spring!
In Literacy, we are looking at a variety of brilliant stories. These stories will help us begin to understand and talk about ourselves and the environment. Our stories will also be portrayed across our classroom, to really make each and every story come to life in Nursery.
In Phonics, we are investigating environmental sounds, and learning lots of new nursery rhymes during our rhyme time. Our rhymes will be sent out weekly for you to practise these at home also!
In Maths, we are exploring numbers. We will enjoy lots of practical activities to recognise numerical patterns, using sorting, comparing and matching.
Alongside these lessons, we are exploring lots of other areas included in the EYFS Curriculum, including Physical Development; Understanding the World; Communication and Language; Personal, Social and Emotional Development; plus Expressive Arts and Design. We cover these in a variety of different and engaging ways. Please remember that interactive learning can sometimes be messy, but that means your child will have had a fun day!
General reminders
Our PE lessons are on Tuesdays, so please ensure your child comes into school in their PE kit on that day.
Please make sure your child's belongings are clearly labelled. Items such as jumpers, cardigans, coats, hats, scarfs and gloves are regularly taken off by the children; having them labelled helps them to be returned to the correct child.
Don't forget to bring Wellington boots for Forest School.
Please make sure that they have a named water bottle in school every day.
If you have any questions or issues, you can find us at the door. Alternatively, you can contact Miss Salter on Class Dojo.
